COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Webster University women's cross country team placed ninth Saturday at the Larry Young Invitational at Gans Creek Cross Country Course.

The Gorloks finished with 240 points in the 5K. Violet Hill led Webster with a 59th-place finish in 23:45.3, followed by Lydia Imboden in 63rd at 24:20.2.

Selene Ahlersmeyer placed 68th in 25:03.8, while Brooklynn Leeper finished 70th at 25:09.4 and Ayanna Lyons rounded out Webster's scoring five in 73rd at 25:27.4.

Brie Inman finished 77th in 26:11.0.

"The team raced hard today. We saw consistent and steady improvement from last week and continue to trend in the right direction. I'm very happy with how we've started the season." said head coach Kyle Robinson.

Truman won the team competition with 26 points, followed by Park University with 94 and Columbia with 98.

The Gorloks return to action Friday, Sept. 18, at the Billiken Invitational at Quail Creek Golf Club in St. Louis.
