Webster men fall in double OT, 2-1

            The Webster men’s soccer team fell 2-1 in double overtime to Westminster on Wednesday evening at the Anheuser-Busch Soccer Park in Fenton, Mo. With the loss the Gorloks were eliminated from post-season contention.

            WU (8-8-1, 5-4 SLIAC) fell behind early when Westminster’s (9-9, 6-2 SLIAC) Nenad Stamatovic scored off a header in the 17th minute on a restart. Webster tied the game in the 29th when Tom Riti took a pass from Kevin Fann on the left wing and banged inside the far post. The Gorloks had some other great scoring chances but they either hit the post or went just wide.

            After a scoreless first overtime the Blue Jays got the game winner in the 102nd minute on Michael Tulley’s goal inside the far post. For the game Webster out shot Westminster by a 27-15 count and had more shots on goal, 10-7.
