BOX SCORE)
What a difference a year makes.
Just one season after running the table in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, the Webster Gorloks stand at 0-2 after falling to MacMurray Saturday, 72-58, in Grant Gymnasium. It's the first time in six seasons the Gorloks have dropped two straight to open the league slate.
Webster's last lead came on a three-pointer by senior
Ryan Turk, that made the score 7-6 with more than 13 minutes remaining in the first half. From there, the Highlander length and athleticism took over. MacMurray owned the glass, outrebounding Webster, 41-25. The edge on the glass and their torrid shooting (52.3 percent), helped the visitors overcome 24 turnovers.
Turk was the only Gorlok in double figures with 10 points, while senior
Luke Niebrugge and senior Matt Trippett each added eight.
The Gorloks (1-3 overall, 0-2 SLIAC) will step away from conference action when they host Rust 4 p.m. Sunday.
