For the first time this season, the Webster women's basketball team lost after leading at the break - dropping a 87-74 decision to Principia in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action.
A team that began the season with a deep bench came into the with just eight players available, and the second half they looked like a team not used to a short bench was the Panthers outscored them 52-38 in the second 20 minutes.
Just one game after going 9-of-22 from behind the arc, the Gorloks struggled to find its range connecting on just 22 percent from three-point distance. Included in the percentage was a 1-of-12 effort in the second half.
Freshman Ayrica Lockett led the Gorloks with 16 points and 11 rebounds, while junior Julie McGirl contributed 15 points and five boards. Freshman Myrtie Reilly added 14 points, six rebounds and six blocks.
Webster, which falls to 8-7 overall, 3-4 SLIAC, will travel to Greenville Saturday to complete the first swing through league play.
