Highlanders Shoot Down Gorloks, 71-62

Webster Falls To 1-1 In The SLIAC

The Webster University men's basketball found how rough life on the road in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference can be, losing 71-62, to MacMurray College in Jacksonville, IL, on December 5.  The Gorloks could not match the shooting pace of the Highlanders on their home floor, and fell to 1-1 in SLIAC play.

Webster led at the half, 36-33, despite MacMurray's 65 percent field-goal shooting.  The Gorloks had a season-low eight turnovers, but were outrebounded in the game, 31-24.  MacMurray continued its hot shooting in the second half (54%) and pulled away for the win.  Webster shot 41 percent for the game.

Drew Moore (JR, Northwest HS, STL) led the Gorloks with 12 points and seven rebounds.  Scott Restoff (Mater Dei HS, IL) had 10 points and Nick Jones (Heritage HS, IL) had a team season high six assists for the game.

Webster is 3-3 overall and returns home to host the Coaches Vs. Cancer Tournament on December 11-12.  Webster faces Maryville University in first-round action on the 11th at 8 p.m.  Missouri Baptist University takes on Millikin University in the other first-round game at 6 p.m. at Grant Gymnasium.
