Webster University's women's basketball team went on a scoring spree not seen in five years, as it defeated MacMurray College, 88-72, in Jacksonville, IL, on December 5. The 88 points scored by the Gorloks was the most in a game since January 15, 2005, against MacMurray as well.
Leading the way for the Gorloks was center Katy Meyer (JR, Parkway Central HS, STL) with 23 points, on 10 of 13 shooting, and eight rebounds. Freshman guard Maggie Zehner (Oakville HS, STL) continued to perform like a veteran, scoring 19 points and adding eight assists. Forward Tori Fenemor (FR, St. Charles HS, STL) had 13 points and five rebounds.
The Gorloks pulled to a 42-36 halftime lead, and slowly extended that lead in the second half. Webster's scoring was fueled by 49 percent field goal shooting, and a defense that forced 20 turnovers and had 13 steals for the game. Webster is 2-0 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and 4-2 overall.
Webster heads to Terre Haute, IN, to take on Rose-Hulman Institute on December 9, before returning home to take on Logan College on December 12.
