BOX SCORE)
Despite knowing their opponent as without its best player, Webster didn't relax - instead bore down in posting the runaway victory.
Webster held Blackburn to a season-low 17 points in the first half en route to the 86-40 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory Saturday at Grant Gymnasium. It was the lowest first-half and game total for any Webster opponent this season - both coming in last week's loss to Spalding.
The Gorloks led for all but 28 seconds of the game, and a 14-0 run midway through the first half, pretty much sealed the game. The lead stood at 19 (34-15), and grew to 25 (42-17) at the break.
Refusing to rest on their laurels, the Gorloks shredded the Blackburn zone making seven of their first nine shots in the second half. Following a stretch in which Webster scored 11 straight points, the bulge was push to 42.

QUOTES
Head Coach Chris Bunch
On the team's defense
"Once we saw that (Rod) Sykes wasn't going to play, we worked on taking (Tommy) Baro away. He is a good enough player to where he is going to get some shots, but we wanted to make sure he didn't get any open shots. Luke (Niebrugge) did a good job on (Brian) Doehring). He came in averaging 12 points, and Luke held him to 0-of-3 shooting."
