Women's Tennis blanks Maryville

TOWN & COUNTRY - Webster opened St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play with a 9-0 blanking of Maryville Tuesday.

Freshman Paige Tungate and junior Amanda Vest dropped one game each in recording impressive singles victories. Paige Tungate was victorious in third singles, 6-0, 6-1, while Vest won her fourth singles match, 6-1, 6-0.

Freshman Allison Tungate and sophomore Hannah Wojahn were almost equally as impressive in their singles wins. Allison Tungate posted a 6-1, 6-2 victory in second singles and Wojahn netted the 6-1, 6-3 victory in sixth singles. Junior Megan Eakes added a 6-3, 6-4 victory in fifth singles.

Sophomore Alexandra Meyer survived the most exciting match of the day, winning in first singles, 5-7, 7-5, 10-3.

In doubles action, the Tungates were victorious, 8-2; Meyer/Vest won, 8-5; and Eakes/Wojahn netted an 8-3 win.
