The Webster University women’s basketball team squeezed out a 73-63 road victory at Greenville College (IL) on January 20. The Gorloks rebounded from their first St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference loss of the season last week, to find themselves alone in first place.
Webster ended the evening at 6-1 in the SLIAC and pulled a game ahead in the conference. The six wins this season already has matched the team total for each of the past three SLIAC seasons. The Gorloks are 10-5 overall for the year.
Ayrica Lockett (SO, Crossroads Prep, STL) led the Gorloks with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Katy Meyer (JR, Parkway Central, STL) and Blair Underwood (SO, Webster Groves, STL) both hit the 13 point mark as well. Tori Fenemor (FR, St. Charles, STL), who aggravated a previous rib injury last week, sat out her fourth game this season.
Webster returns home to face Westminster College on January 23. The Bluejays, who began the evening in a first-place tie with the Gorloks, dropped into second-place after a loss at home. The Gorloks are back on the road to take on Blackburn College in Carlinville, IL, on January 27.
