The men’s basketball team provided its fans with a “classic” moment as it swept its own Cavallo Classic by beating Nebraska Wesleyan, 74-60, on November 20 at Grant Gymnasium. Willie Trimble (JR, Riverside CC, CA) continued his hot start to the season, scoring 22 points in the win.
Trimble, named the Cavallo Classic Most Valuable Player, added four assists and three steals, while freshman Jerrod Huskey (Hillsboro HS, MO) chipped in 11 points, six rebounds, and three steals. Nick Jones (SR, Heritage HS, IL) had 11 points and five rebounds, and Robby Meeh (SR, Lindbergh HS) had nine points and four rebounds. Jones was named to the All-Classic Team.
Webster raced to an 18-4 lead and led by nine at the half. The Gorloks maintained their lead throughout the second half, with the Prairie Wolves only climbing as close as nine points. Webster starts the season 2-0 for the first time since 2007 with the win.

The Gorloks take on Illinois Wesleyan on November 29 at home and then open the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schedule with a road contest in Jacksonville, IL, on December 1 vs. MacMurray College.
