The Webster University men’s basketball team remained tied for third in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with a come from behind, 74-64 win over Greenville College (IL) at home on February 3. The victory improved the Gorloks record in the SLIAC to 7-4 and avenged a 2OT loss to the Panthers two weeks ago at Greenville.
In a reversal of the loss at Greenville, when Webster pulled to a 14-point lead before falling in OT, the Gorloks fell behind this time, 19-6. A three-point basketball by Cody Bradfisch (FR, Jerseyville HS, IL) at 9:00 of the first half started a 12-0 run to cut the lead to 19-18. Another big run by Webster, 24-8, to start the second half, jumped the Gorloks to a 47-32 lead before coasting to the victory.
Scott Restoff (JR, Mater Dei HS, IL) led the charge for the Gorloks, scoring 16 of his season-high 18 points in the second half, 13 from the free-throw line. Drew Moore (JR, Northwest HS, STL) scored 18 points also, pulled down a team-high nine rebounds, and had four steals. Nick Jones (JR, Heritage HS, IL) had 13 points and seven rebounds.
Webster has a chance to take sole possession of third when the team travels to Eureka College (IL) on February 6. The Gorloks and Red Devils are tied at 7-4 in the SLIAC. Webster improved to 10-10 overall.
