Men's Tennis Continues Record Breaking Season

Wins Over Principia and Greenville Run Streak to 6

The Webster University men's tennis team set records for most wins in a season and most consecutive victories by beating Principia College (9-0) and Greenville College (5-4) in Greenville, IL, on April 10.  The Gorloks have 10 wins on the season, surpassing the 1995 total of eight, and have won six straight matches, eclipsing the previous mark of four in a row.

Freshman Diego Alarcon (American School, Ecuador) sealed the victory vs. Greenville with a come from behind win, 2-6, 6-0, 7-5, in the final singles match of the day.  Alarcon has won six straight singles matches, coming at either the #1 or #2 positions.  Another freshman, Ricky Eaves (McCluer North, STL), extended his singles streak to eight with wins in both matches, and Adis Beganovic (JR, St. John the Baptist, Bosnia) ran his to six in a row.

Webster is 4-1 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and 10-3 overall.  The Gorloks play at Concordia Seminary on April 13 and then travel to Westminster College on April 16-17 to participate in the SLIAC "individuals" tournament.
