The Webster University men's and women's track teams participated in the Principia Indoor Relays at the Crafton Training Center in Elsah, IL, on January 15. The Gorloks were competing in just their second indoor venue, the other being Illinois College in 2010. Eleven athletes participated in seven different running events.
Highlights included Jane McKibben (SO, Lindbergh HS) taking second in the women's 3000M run, Aaron Oberneufemann (SO, Owensville HS, MO) finishing second in the men's 500M run, and the women's 4 X 800M relay team placing first.
Coach Dusty Lopez said about the relays, "This was about what we needed for the first competition of the season. We didn't have our full squad and even those who went used the day as a high-level workout. It gives us a benchmark and from here we'll shoot to improve. As we get more practice, I think our progress will be pretty easy to spot."
