Men's Tennis Squeezes Out Victory at Greenville

The Webster University men's tennis team had deja vu as it pulled out a 5-4 victory at Greenville College (IL), on April 5.  Down 3-2, the men rallied to win three of the final four matches to eke out the victory.  The last time the two teams met, in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament in 2010, the Gorloks rallied to nip the Panthers 5-3.

In addition to the closeness of the final score, five of the singles matches went down to third sets.  Agustin Villalba (SO, American School, Ecuador) won at #1 singles in the three sets, coming from 2-5 down to win the third, 7-5.  Ryan Fassler (JR, Lutheran South HS) won the final singles match of the afternoon in straight sets to clinch the victory.

Webster is 2-1 in the SLIAC and 8-4 overall.  They have back to back home matches on vs. Concordia Seminary on April 8, and Missouri Baptist University on April 9, at the Webster Groves Tennis Center.
