Box Score Extending its winning streak to five in a row, the Webster University men’s basketball team pawed Principia College (IL), 96-86, on January 14, at Grant Gymnasium. Dietrick Sooter (JR, Pierce City HS, MO) piled up 18 first half points, hitting four three-pointers in the process, to help the Gorloks pull to a 54-37 halftime lead. Despite some ragged play in the second half, Webster prevailed.
Jarrod Huskey (SO, Hillsboro HS, MO) and Stefan Whittingham (SO, Ft. Lauderdale HS, FL) both rang up double-doubles on the afternoon. Huskey had 10 points and a team-high 11 rebounds while Whittingham had 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Cody Bradfisch (JR, Jerseyville HS, IL) scored 16 points and Hollis Edwards (SO, McGavock HS, TN) came off the bench to score 17 points, shooting 6-9 from the field and 3-4 from the three-point line.
The Gorloks are 6-0 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and alone in first place. Webster continues to edge toward the .500 mark as its record improves to 6-8 with the victory. The team travels to Greenville College (IL) on January 18 and to Fontbonne University on January 21, completing the first half of the SLIAC schedule.
