Webster Women Best Bearcats, 57-51

Box Score The Webster University women's basketball team will have a just little jollier holiday, entering the break with a 57-51 win over Rust College, on the road in Mississippi, on December 15.  Maggie Zehner (SR, Oakville HS, MO) led the Gorloks with 19 points in the victory.

Webster had lost to the Bearcats, 55-48, at home on November 17 in the Cavallo Tip Off.  Rust was 4-0 after that contest, but the Gorloks turned the tables on the Bearcats in Holly Springs, never trailing in the contest.  As Coach Jordan Olufson described the game, "It was a complete team effort" for Webster, with the "team playing well, pressuring them well, and getting lots of transition baskets."

The Gorloks shots 48% from the field (11-22) in the first half, including 50% (6-12) from the three-point arc.  Webster held Rust to just 39 shots for the game and forced 21 turnovers.

Zehner was 5-10 from the field and 3-5 from the three-point line, had four rebounds, and added two assists on the afternoon.  Gwen Williams (SR, Ft. Zumwalt West HS, MO) had 11 points before fouling out, and led Webster with three steals.  Courtney Pursley (JR, St. Clair HS, MO) came off the bench to lead the Gorloks with eight rebounds, and chipped in with 11 points.  Kaliann Rikard (JR, Cuba HS, MO) led Webster with four assists, had no turnovers, and grabbed four rebounds.

Webster is 4-5 overall on the season.  The Gorloks take a holiday break before returning to the court, on December 29, vs. Washington University, at Grant Gymnasium.  They follow that game up with a New Year's Eve contest vs. Southwestern University (TX) on December 31 at Grant also.  Both games are at 1:00 p.m.
