Gorlok Tennis Squads Split With Saints

The Webster University men's and women's tennis teams split with Maryville University, on April 12, at the Webster Groves Tennis Center.  The women won their school-record 12th straight, beating the Saints 8-1, as they improved to 16-1 on the season.  The men had a rougher time, losing, 5-4, after entering the doubles up 4-2.  Maryville, a former St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rival, is now an member of the NCAA II GLVC conference.

Losing only at #1 singles, the women swept through the rest of the match, winding up 5-1 in singles and 3-0 in doubles.  The men needed just one doubles win after winning four of the singles matches, but lost three hard fought contests, one in a tie-breaker.  The men fell to 11-3 on the season with the loss.

Both teams face SLIAC rival Principia College, on April 14 at the WGTC, in matches that will determine which team will carry the #1 seed in the SLIAC Tournament on April 20-21.  Full results for the Maryville matches were:
