Men's Soccer Downs Manchester, 3-2

The Webster University men's soccer team regrouped after a tough loss and defeated Manchester University (IN), 3-2, on September 16, at the Sal Vaccaro Tournament in Naperville, IL.  Carlos Espinosa (JR, Eureka HS, MO) had two goals to lead the Gorloks.

Clint Carder (SR, DeSoto HS, MO) scored his team-leading fourth goal to give the Gorloks a 1-0 lead just six minutes into the game.  Kyle Leonard (SR, Lafayette HS, MO) had the assist on the goal.  After a Manchester PK tied it up going into the half, Espinosa scored the first of his goals just three minutes into the second to give Webster a 2-1 lead.  Marc Hager (JR, St. John Vianney HS, MO) had the assist.

Espinosa scored his second goal 10 minutes later to give Webster a two-goal cushion, 3-1.  The two goals were Espinosa's first and second of the season.  Manchester made it 3-2 with a goal at the 73 minute mark, but the Webster defense allowed no more as the Gorloks took the win.

Brian Woodward (SO, Eureka HS, MO)  had four saves to pick up the win in goal.  Webster outshot Manchester, 10-9, and although the game was much more 'tame' than the contest the previous evening vs. North Central (IL), Webster still had 20 fouls to the Spartans nine.

Webster is 4-2 on the season and will be home at the Soccer Park on September 20 to face William Woods University, an NAIA program.  On September 22, the Gorloks will host NCAA III powerhouse Wheaton College (IL) at the Soccer Park.
