Box Score The Webster University women's basketball team defeated Principia College (IL), 61-48, on January 19, in Elsah, IL. The Gorloks won their fourth straight game, and improved to 6-2 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Kaliann Rikard (JR, Cuba HS, MO) led Webster to a 34-23 halftime lead, with 10 points, three assists, and three steals. Rikard was a perfect 4-4 from the field. Webster racked up 11 steals as a team in the half, forcing 17 Principia turnovers. The Gorloks wound up with 16 steals in the game, and forcing 26 turnovers overall.
Courtney Pursley (JR, St. Clair HS, MO) had a double double for the Gorloks, scoring 10 points and cleaning the glass for a career-high 15 rebounds on the day. Maggie Zehner (SR, Oakville HS, MO) led Webster with 13 points on the afternoon. Rikard wound up with 12 points, five assists, and four steals.
With the win, Webster improves to 9-8 overall on the season.
Webster travels to Jacksonville, IL, on January 23, to take on MacMurray College. The Gorloks are at Grant Gym for the first of five straight home games on January 26, as they take on Eureka College (IL).
