Senior Jarrod Huskey scored nine points on 4-of-5 shooting and grabbed 13 rebounds in Webster's 71-70 loss to Elmhurst College.

Gorloks edged by Elmhurst, 71-70

Box Score In a back-and-forth game that came down to the closing seconds, the Webster University men's basketball team fell just short to Elmhurst College (Ill.), 71-70, Tuesday (Nov. 26) at Grant Gymnasium.
 
Webster held a 53-50 lead with 8:11 remaining, and then knotted the score at 69-all on a jumper by junior Ahmad Smith (St. Louis, MO / Clayton). Sophomore Kevin Miller's (Belleville, IL / Belleville East) free throw drew Webster within a point, 71-70, but Elmhurst held off the Gorloks during the final 30 seconds to claim the one-point win.
 
Smith and Miller each scored a game-high 16 points. Both players have scored in double figures in Webster's first four games this season. Miller added 13 rebounds for his first double-double of the season.
 
Freshman CJ Moore (Homestead, FL / Miami Killian) did not miss a shot in scoring 10 points, as he went 3 of 3 from the field and 4 of 4 from the free-throw line. Senior Jarrod Huskey (Hillsboro, MO / Hillsboro) narrowly missed a double-double. Huskey scored nine points — all in the second half — and snagged 13 rebounds.
 
Freshman Adam Etter (Albers, IL / Mater Dei) chipped in nine points on 3-of-4 shooting, and senior Hollis Edwards (Nashville, TN / McGavock) dished out a game-high six assists. For the third straight game, Webster had more assists (12) than turnovers (9).
 
In the first half, the Gorloks went on a 21-10 run during a 10-minute span to turn a 17-7 Elmhurst lead into a 28-27 Webster lead. The visitors took a 35-31 advantage into halftime before the Gorloks grabbed their biggest lead of the game, 50-46, at the 11:27 mark of the second half.
 
With the loss, Webster dipped to 2-2. The Gorloks open St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play with a home game against Greenville College (Ill.) next Wednesday (Dec. 4). Tip time is scheduled for 8 p.m. at Grant Gymnasium.
