Women's Basketball Paws Principia, 64-40

Box Score The Webster University women's basketball team improved to 9-4 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with a 64-40 win over Principia College (IL) at Grant Gymnasium, on February 5.  Courtney Pursley (JR, St. Clair HS, MO) and Gwen Williams (SR, Ft. Zumwalt West HS, MO) both led the Gorloks with 14 points as all hands on deck contributed to the win.

Webster coasted to a 29-16 halftime bulge and kept on adding to its burgeoning lead, it largest being the final margin.  Webster got 22 points from its bench as the non-starters averaged 17 minutes of playing time on the night.  Pursley was 6-11 from the field and pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds in the contest.  Lisa Adden (JR, Mt. Olive HS, IL) had seven points and seven rebounds to lead the charge coming off the bench.

Webster held the Gold and Blue to 23% shooting, 14-61 overall including just 2-18 from the three-point line.  The Gorloks shot 40% (26-65) as a team in the game and outrebounded Principia, 49-34.

The Gorloks are 12-10 overall on the season.  This was the fourth game in a five-game stretch at home for the Gorloks.  The fifth, and the final regular season home game for Webster, is on February 7 vs. Spalding University.   Webster resumes its 'Battle of Big Bend' series with a game at Fontbonne University on February 13.
