The Webster University men's and women's tennis teams continued on a roll, both winning at Lindenwood University-Belleville, on March 28. The men won its 13th straight match, 8-1, and the women stayed undefeated with a 7-2 win over the Lynx.
For the men, Ricky Eaves (SR, McCluer North HS, MO) remained undefeated with his 13th straight singles win, at #5 singles. Josh Sellmeyer (SR, Mehlville HS, MO) improved to 9-0 on the year at #6 singles. Agustin Villalba (SR, American School, Ecuador) won his 12th straight at the #3 singles and Diego Alarcon (SR, American School, Ecuador) won his ninth straight singles match, at #1.
Alarcon won a thriller. After falling 1-6 in the first set, he battled to win the second set after winning the tie-breaker, 7-4. In the tie-breaker set for the match, Alarcon had another squeaker, winning 10-8.
In the women's match, Kaylen Kress (FR, Bartlett HS, IL) and Kathleen Kennedy (SO, Providence Catholic HS, IL) both remained a perfect 11-0 on the season, win wins in singles. Kennedy had an exciting win at #3 singles, coming from behind after a 3-6 loss in the first set to take the second handily (6-2), and winning the tie-breaker set, 10-8.
The men are 13-1 overall and the women are 6-0 on the season. The men have a match at Washington University on March 29 and both squads host Greenville College (IL) on April 2 at the WGTC. Full results for both Lindenwood matches are below.
