The Webster University men's tennis team downed Augustana College, 5-4, and then defeated host Illinois Wesleyan, 7-2, in matches played on April 13 at Bloomington, IL. With the victories, the Gorloks improve to 17-2 on the season.
In the opening match vs. Augustana, the Gorloks dropped all three doubles match ups, but took five of six singles. In all five singles victories for Webster, a third set win was needed to secure the team point. Webster had a much easier time against the Titans. The Gorloks took two of three doubles and took five of six singles against Wesleyan as well for the 7-2 win.
Francissco Cortez (SR, Quincy HS, IL) won at #1, Diego Alarcon (SR, American School, Ecuador) at #2, Travis Blair (FR, Jerseyville HS, IL) at #4, and Josh Sellmeyer (SR, Mehlville HS, MO), at #6 all won at singles in both matches. Webster is right back in action at home as the men and women's teams take on Fontbonne University at the Webster Groves Tennis Center on April 14.
