The Webster University men's tennis team won its semi-final match in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament, defeating Greenville College, 5-1, at King's Point TC in Belleville, IL, on April 26. The Gorloks will face Westminster College in the championship match on April 27.
Webster, who had defeated Greenville 9-0 on April 4, took a 2-1 lead in doubles, then clinched the match after Webster's #1-3 singles had won their pairings to give the Gorloks the five points needed to win. Seniors Francissco Cortez (Quincy HS, IL), Diego Alarcon (American School, Ecuador), and Agustin Villalba (American School, Ecuador) wrapped up victories for Webster as the final three singles were suspended with the outcome already decided.
The Gorloks will face Westminster College at 11:00 a.m. at Dwight Davis Tennis Center at Forest Park on the 27th. Webster had a hard-fought, 5-4 win over the Blue Jays on March 23 at the Webster Groves Tennis Center.
With the win, Webster improves to 19-2 on the season.
