Pair of Gorloks Score a Pair

Box Score A pair of goals from a pair of Gorloks resulted in a 4-1 win for Webster University women's soccer team at Benedictine University (Ill.).

Sophomores Lauren Pratt (St. Louis, MO / Incarnate Word) and Ashley Mess (St. Louis, MO / Northwest) each scored twice for Webster (6-1). Pratt's goals both came in the first half and Mess's goals both came in the second half.

The last time Webster had two players score two goals in a match was Oct. 25 last season in a 6-0 win against Spalding (Ky.). In that contest, Pratt, Katie Aubuchon (St. Louis, MO / Affton) and Kristin Montgomery (St. Louis, MO / Duchesne) each tallied twice.

Mess, who also had an assist on Pratt's first goal today, takes over the team scoring lead in points (10) and goals (4). Pratt is second among Gorloks with nine points (3 goals, 3 assists).

Other assists today were credited to Montgomery, Amy Schield (Belleville, IL / Belleville West), and Briana Small (Chicago, IL / Lake Park).

Webster outshot the home team, 13-4, and was 25 seconds away from completing its fifth shutout of the season.

The Gorloks' 6-1 record is the best start since the 2009 team had an identical record.

The squad's next match is at home Friday night (Sept. 20) against Buena Vista (Iowa). Game time is 8 pm at Soccer Park.
