Box Score Through 79 minutes of play, Webster University's men's soccer team was knotted in a scoreless tie with visiting Augustana College (Ill.). But in the 80th minute, the Gorloks were awarded a penalty kick, their best opportunity of the game to grab the lead.

Junior midfielder Mike Wells (St. Louis, MO / McCluer North) stepped to the penalty-kick spot and fired his left-footed shot on frame. Though the goalie initially made the save, Wells pounced on the rebound and buried his second shot to give Webster a 1-0 lead which held up for the win Saturday (Sept. 21) at St. Louis Soccer Park.

Wells' goal was his team-leading fourth of the season. Wells shares the team goal-scoring and point (11) leads with Patrick McCaffrey.

Junior goalie Brian Woodward (Eureka, MO / Eureka) made four saves and earned his second shutout of the season.

These teams last faced off in a September 2010 matchup at Soccer Park. In that game, the Gorloks scored in the second overtime period to claim a 2-1 victory.

Webster improved its record to 4-2-3 on the season. The Gorloks have a quick turnaround as they take on Coe tomorrow (Sept. 22) at 3 p.m. at Soccer Park.
