Gorloks Overpowered by Bears, 80-47

Box Score The Webster University women's basketball team were overmatched as the Gorloks fell to Washington University, 80-47.  Webster lost to the Bears, who are ranked second nationally in the most recent NCAA III poll, at the Washington U Field House on January 4.
 
Courtney Pursley (SR, Lonedell, MO/St. Clair HS) had her fourth double double in her last five contests, scoring 14 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.  Center Cassie Endicott (JR, Bethalto, IL/Civic Memorial HS) had 12 points and six rebounds in the loss.  Alyssa Sapp (SO, Ashland, MO/Southern Boone HS) came off the bench to score eight points on 3-5 shooting.

The Gorloks were down 36-23 at the half and a 6-2 spurt brought them within nine, early in the second half, before the Bears answered with 11 straight points to build a 20-point, 49-29 lead.  Turnovers plagued Webster as the team committed a season-high 29 in the contest.

The Gorloks are 5-5 for the season and 2-1 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.  Webster resumes play in the SLIAC with a game at Principia College in Elsah, IL, on January 7.  The Gorloks play their first home game in over a month when they host Westminster College on January 9 at Grant Gymnasium.
