Gorloks Scorch Prairie Fire, 86-67

Box Score The Webster University men's basketball team defeated Knox College, 86-67, in Galesburg, IL, on November 16.  Ahmad Smith led the Gorloks with 30 points as they won their first game of the 2014-15 season.  Webster evens its record at 1-1 with the win.

Smith (SR, St. Louis, MO/Clalyton) did it all in the Webster victory.   He was 12-16 from the field, including 4-4 from the three-point line.  Smith also was 2-2 from the free throw line and led Webster with eight rebounds.

Webster, as a team, shot 32-58 (55%) and was 5-8 (55%) from the three-point line.  The Gorlok defense had 17 steals, helping force the Prairie Fire into 26 turnovers on the game.

The Gorloks were down 11-10 early in the contest, but a 9-0 run gave them a 19-11 lead and they extended it to 40-23 at the half.  Webster led by as many as 28 in the second half when Smith poured in 19 of his 30 points.

C.J. Moore (Homestead, FL/Miami Killian HS) had 10 points on 5-8 shooting, and led the Gorloks with four steals.  Sophomore Hunter Ward (St. Louis, MO/Kirkwood HS) had eight points and five rebounds, and Tevin Evans (JR, St. Louis, MO/St. Louis CC) had nine points off the bench

Knox College, located in Galesburg, is a member of the Midwest Conference.

The Gorloks will have their home opener on November 21 vs. Millikin University (IL) in the first round of the Cavallo Classic at Grant Gymnasium.  Webster will face the University of Texas-Dallas on November 22 on the second day of the Classic.
