Comets Soar Over Gorloks, 69-48

Box Score The Webster University men's basketball team fell in the second round of the Cavallo Classic, losing to the University of Texas-Dallas, 69-48, on November 22 at Grant Gymnasium. 
The Gorloks' hot shooting the evening before, in an 81-68 win over Millikin University, went cold against the Comets.

UT-Dallas opened up the game with a 10-2 lead, extended the margin to 21-9 at the 11:00 minute mark, and entered the locker room leading, 32-19 at the half

The Comets pushed the accelerator to start the second half, going up 37-19, and building a 52-24 lead with 11:40 left in the game.

Webster was 8-24 (33%) from the field in the first half, shooting 1-11 from the three-point line.  UT-Dallas shot 6-10 from the three-point line in the first and wound up 14-26 (54%) from beyond the arc for the game.

The Gorloks finished the game at 37.5% (18-48) overall from the field, but did heat it up from the three-point line in the second half, shooting 5-11 (45.5%).  The Comets out rebounded the Gorloks, 38-28 on the afternoon.

C.J. Moore (SO, Homestead, FL/Miami Killian HS) led Webster with 11 points, shooting 5-7 for the game.  Aaron Griffin (JR, Farm Haven, MS/Velma Jackson HS) and Danny Zehner (JR, St. Louis, MO/Oakville HS) each had five rebounds to lead Webster.

Rafael Farley of UT-Dallas was named the Cavallo Classic MVP.  Joining him on the All-Tournament Team was teammate Matthew Medell.  Webster's Hunter Ward (SO, St. Louis, MO/Kirkwood HS) and Moore were also named to the All-Tournament Team.  Rounding the Team out was T.J. Griffith from Millikin University and Clayton Whitlock from MacMurray College.

Webster is 2-2 overall on the season.  The Gorloks are home on November 25 to open play in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference when they face MacMurray College (IL).  On November 29, Webster travels to Dubuque, IA, to take on Loras College.
