Box Score The Webster University women's basketball team lost to Washington University, 88-59, on December 10 at Grant Gymnasium. The Gorloks fell into an early hole and made a couple runs, but not enough to overcome the Bears, ranked #3 nationally in the NCAA III.
Webster fell behind, 17-5, six minutes into the contest and trailed by as many as 19 in the half, Down 26-7, an 8-0 run by the Gorloks, fueled by a pair of Mia Williams (JR, St. Louis, MO/Hazelwood West HS) three-pointers made it 26-15, at the 7:30 mark. Webster cut the lead to 10 with three minutes left but was down, 42-27, at the half.
Washington University would continue to pad its lead in the second half, as Webster would wind up falling, 88-59. Webster shot 38% from the field for the game, including 39% (7-18) from the three point line. The Gorloks lost the turnover battle, committing 22 to the Bears' 10 on the evening.
Ashley Brooks (JR, Hermann, MO/Hermann HS) was the leading scorer for Webster, picking up 19 points on 7-14 shooting, had a team-high six rebounds, and added four assists. Williams wound up with 13 points in the first half, finishing the game with 16, and had a team-high five assists.
Cassie Endicott (SR, Bethalto, IL/Civic Memorial HS) and Brittany Harris-Conway (JR, St. James, MO/John F. Hodge HS) each had six points and five rebounds, with Endicott having three blocks for the game. Endicott moved into the #14 spot on Webster's all-time scoring list with 698, passing former teammate Kaliann Rikard (2010-14), who had 697.
Webster is 5-4 overall on the season. The Gorloks have over a week off before returning to the hard floor on Friday, December 19, as they host Central College (IA), at Grant Gymnasium. Webster last played Central in 2010, with the Gorloks winning, 75-69, at Grant.
