Gorlok Men Rank High Statistically in NCAA III

Edwards 8th in Steals, Endicott 19th in Blocks for Webster Women

Heading into its NCAA III Regional matchup at Illinois Wesleyan University (23-4) on March 7, the Webster University men's basketball team has had a successful season with a 20-7 record overall.  But in addition to wins and losses, the Gorloks have statistically faired well nationally on the season in the NCAA III.

As a team, Webster ranks ninth in the nation in steals (291) and 12th in steals per game at 10.8.  Leading the Gorloks' ability to steal is senior guard Hollis Edwards (Nashville, TN/McGavock HS).  Edwards ranks eighth individually in the NCAA III in steals with 72 on the season, and 11th in steals per game (2.67).

In addition, the Gorloks have been stingy with the ball this season, giving up fewer turnovers.  As a result, Webster's turnover margin, the average number of turnovers less than its opponents, ranks 19th in the NCAA III at 4.1.

Webster ranks 21st in team FG% (49.3) and 23rd in FG% on defense (39.3).  Kevin Miller (SO, Belleville, IL/Belleville East HS) ranks 75th in the NCAA III individually with a 55.1% FG on the season.

Webster also is 43rd in scoring margin, the average it outscores its opponents, at 9.9 per game, and 45th in scoring defense, giving up just 64.4 points per game.  One other category the Gorloks rank highly in, is a very sportsmanlike 35th in the nation in fouls per games, averaging just 16.0 per contest.

Of note for the Webster women, who finished the season at 17-10, Cassie Endicott (JR, Bethalto, IL/Civic Memorial HS) was 19th in the nation in blocked shots per game at 2.93.
