It was a tough night for Gorlok tennis as the men's team fell, 5-4 at Westminster College in Fulton, MO, and the women's team lost at home, 8-1, to Principia College. 

On the men's side, for the second straight match, the team was tied 4-4 with its opponent, needing a win in the final set of the final singles match of the night, only to lose, 5-4.  Webster fell behind 2-1, after the doubles were completed with Juan Granizo (FR, Quito, Ecuador/Collegio Alberto Einstein) and Karl Wesshaupt (JR, Vienna, Austria/Webster Vienna) winning the lone Webster doubles at #1, 8-3.

The Gorloks won three of the first five singles matches to complete, including Granizo at #1, Wesshaupt at #3, and Carlton Poindexter (JR, Florissant, MO/McCluer North HS) at #5.  The last singles match involved a battle for Travis Blair (SO, Jerseyville, IL/Jerseyville HS) at #2.  Blair won the first set, 6-4, lost the second, 4-6, and dropped a cliffhanger, 5-7, in the final.

For the women, it was a rougher night against the first place Panthers.  Webster fell to 1-2 in the SLIAC and 2-7 overall as Principia improved to 5-0 in the SLIAC.   Marissa Lewis (JR, Owasso, OK/Owasso HS) was the lone victor for the women, taking the #1 singles, in straight sets, 7-6, 6-0.
