The Webster University women's tennis team concluded the fall portion of its 2015-16 schedule with a 6-3 loss to McKendree University, on October 2, at the Webster Groves Tennis Center.  The Gorloks lost a couple of well-fought match-ups that could have swung the outcome the other way, but the NCAA II Bearcats took home the victory.

Webster fell behind, 1-2, in doubles play.  Monica Behrle (SO, Atlanta, GA/East Paulding HS) and Jesse Steffens-Willis (SO, St. Louis, MO/Rockwood Summit HS) squeezed out a win at #2 doubles, 8-6, while Sara Rice (FR, Mahomet, IL/Mahomet-Seymour HS) and Chelsea Foster (JR, St. Louis, MO/McCluer North HS) were nipped, 9-7 at #3.

Behrle, who went 21-1 in her freshman season in 2014-15, defeated the Bearcats' #1 singles player in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3.  Rice won at #4 singles in straight sets as well, 6-3, 6-4.  Freshman Madison Watts (Rogersville, MO/Logan-Rogersville HS) lost in a tie-breaker set at #3 singles, 7-6, 1-6, 4-10.

The 'young' Gorlok squad, featuring two freshmen and three sophomores along with one senior and one junior in starting roles, finished the fall at 2-2.  Webster's next match will take place on February 27 when it travels to Cedar Rapids, IA, to play host Coe College and NCAA II Quincy University.  Webster will be defending its St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship in hopes of a return to the NCAA III Championships in 2016.

McKendree, an athletic scholarship program that is a member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference, improved to 2-0.  The Bearcats were 13-12 in 2014-15.  The complete match results were:
