The Webster University men's tennis team opened up its 2015 season with a 9-0 loss at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology on February 14. Though the Engineers proved too tough for the Gorloks, four new players, including two freshman, made their debuts for the team.
Simon Self, a freshman from Willow Springs, MO (Willow Springs HS) playing his first collegiate match, fell in the #2 singles spot. Self teamed with veteran Travis Blair (JR, Jerseyville, IL/Jerseyville HS) at #1 doubles as well.
A pair from Webster's European campuses, sophomorer Ivan Prgomet (Zagreb,Croatia/Webster-Vienna) at #3 singles, and freshman Carlos Gonzalez (Madrid, Spain/Webster-Leiden), at #4 singles, made their debuts as well. The fourth newcomer was junior Trent Purnell (Marion, IL/Marion HS), who played at the #5 singles.
The lone senior on this year's squad is Carlton Poindexter (Florissant, MO/McCluer North HS), in his fourth season for the Gorloks. Poindexter played at the #6 singles spot.
