The Webster University men's tennis team had its final warm up before the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament, losing to Millikin University 7-2 on April 23 at the Webster Groves Tennis Center.  The Gorloks will face Fontbonne University in the first round of the tournament on April 24 at the Dwight Davis Center at Forest Park (see accompanying story).

Webster fell into a 3-0 hole after doubles play, with Travis Blair (JR, Jerseyville, IL/Jerseyville HS) and Trent Purnell (JR, Marion, IL/Marion HS) as its best bet, falling 9-8 in the tie-breaker at #2 doubles. 

Purnell, at #4, and Carlton Poindexter (SR, Florissant, MO/McCluer North HS) at #5, gave Webster its two singles victories.  Purnell won in straight sets and Poindexter won in the tie-breaker set.

The Gorloks' first match in the SLIAC Tournament is at 11:00 a.m. on the 24th.  Webster is 4-7 overall on the season.  The full Webster/Millikin results were:
