Evening its season and St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference record, the Webster University men's tennis team defeated Fontbonne University, 8-1, on April 6, at the Webster Groves Tennis Center.  Travis Blair (JR, Jerseyville, IL/Jerseyville HS) improved to 5-3 in singles on the season, all at #1.

Blair won in straight sets, as did Trent Purnell (JR, Marion, IL/Marion HS) at #2, Matt Lang (JR, St. Louis, MO/Lindbergh HS) at #3, and Eric Bateman (SO, Maryland Heights, MO/Pattonville HS) at #4.  The Gorloks won two singles and a doubles match by forfeit by the shorthanded Griffins.

Webster split the two doubles matches that were played.  Carlton Poindexter (SR, Florissant, MO/McCluer North HS) and Simon Self (FR, Willow Springs, MO/Willow Springs HS) won at #2 doubles, 8-0, for the Gorloks.

Webster is 1-1 in the SLIAC and 4-4 overall with the win.  The Gorloks travel to Greenville College (IL) on April 8 to face the Panthers, then has a week off before hosting Westminster College on April 15 at the Webster Groves Tennis Center.
