The Webster University 2015-16 men's basketball team will have seven new recruits joining the roster. Head coach Chris Bunch believes he has added players to offset the graduation losses of leading scorer Ahmad Smith and leading rebounder and shot-blocker Aaron Griffin, to join a group of talented returnees. The recruiting class is dominated by five freshmen, with two juco players adding collegiate playing experience to the mix. The class adds height as well as four of the players are 6' 5". A breakdown of each of the incoming players with coach Bunch's assessment:
Bent Crawford Dortch
Quintonn Bent (Vienna, IL/Vienna HS)Bent, a 6'1" guard from Vienna HS in Illinois, averaged 17 points and 6 rebounds per game his senior season. He has a knack for getting to the free throw line, attempting 190 for the year. He finished his career at Vienna as the school's fifth all-time leading scorer. "Quinnton is an excellent offensive player who can shoot from the perimeter and drive and get to the line," Bunch said. "He gives us even greater depth at the guard positions."
Marc Crawford (St. Charles, MO/Francis Howell Central HS)Marc arrives at Webster after a stellar senior season at Francis Howell Central where he averaged 16.7 points per game. He will be a two-sport athlete for the Gorloks, as he will play soccer in the fall. "Marc is an outstanding athlete in two sports, and both Coach Siener and I are glad to have him here at Webster," Bunch said. "His quickness, effort and playmaking ability make him a candidate for playing time as a freshman."
Xavier Dortch (Stockton, AL/Faulkner State CC)Xavier is another talented guard that will contend for playing time immediately. He was a two-year starter at Faulkner State CC in Alabama, averaging 11.7 points/game as a freshman and 8.8 points/game as a sophomore. The 5'8" guard led the team in assists (4.1/game) last season, helping Faulkner to a 25-7 record and a berth in the NJCAA Division 1 national tournament. "Xavier is an explosive player who sees the floor exceptionally well and can also score when needed," Bunch said. "We expect big things from him the next two seasons."
Davian Joseph (Philadelphia, PA/Lewis and Clark CC)Davian is a 6'5" wing player that played at Lewis and Clark CC for two seasons. He is another player in the typical Gorlok mold that can play several different positions if needed. "Davian is a talented player that can do many things well," Bunch said. "He has the skills of a guard but can rebound and defend taller players as well. We expect him to be an integral part of our success this season."

Milligan Wiggs Wilborn
Evan Milligan (Evansville, IN/Evansville Central HS)Evan, a 6'5" standout from Evansville Central, averaged 2.6 blocks/game to go along with 11.9 points per game and 7.1 rebounds per game. He was named one of the Top 5 Shot Blockers in Indiana 4A basketball and his defensive and rebounding prowess has Coach Bunch excited. "Evan's length and timing will be a huge asset to us defensively this season," Bunch said. "He gives us great depth at the post position and should battle for playing time early."
Brice Wiggs (St. Charles, MO/St. Charles HS)Brice comes to Webster after helping St. Charles HS to a 28-4 record and the Missouri 3A state championship last season. The 6'5" wing/post led the Pirates in rebounding (6.6/game) and blocks (1.0/game) and was third on the team in scoring (7.6/game). "Brice comes from an excellent program and has experienced a great deal of success, and those are intangibles that we like to see in a recruit," said Bunch. "His work ethic and knowledge of the game should help him compete for playing time right away."
Jahmad Wilburn (Deerfield Beach, FL/Deerfield Beach HS)Jahmad is a versatile post player that can mix it up underneath the basket (as evidenced by his double-double in the regional final game last season), but who can also shoot from the perimeter (his three-pointer at the buzzer in the regional quarterfinal sparked Deerfield Beach HS to an overtime win). His 6'5" and 240 pound frame gives the Gorloks a much-needed low post presence. "Jahmad fills a big void for us heading into next season," Bunch said. "We have most of our perimeter rotation returning, but needed a big man that was capable of playing immediately, and Jahmad gives us that."
