The Webster women's soccer team will play on Saturday, November 12 at host University of Chicago, in the first round of NCAA III Women's Soccer Championships. The Gorloks advanced to their 12th NCAA appearance, in 18 seasons of play, after downing Fontbonne University for the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament championship.
The Chicago Maroon (15-3) are ranked eighth nationally by the NSCAA and second in the Central Region, after finishing second in the competitive University Athletic Association conference. The Gorloks (13-7) were ranked eighth in the most recent NSCAA Central Region poll. This will be the third meeting in NCAA play for the Gorloks and the Maroon. Chicago defeated Webster 3-0 in 2003 and won 1-0 in the Gorloks' last NCAA appearance in 2014.
Webster has won six straight games going into the tournament. The Gorloks are seventh nationally in the NCAA III in scoring, with 72 goals, and are are eighth in points with 200 on the season. Webster is also ninth in points per game (10.0) and ninth in assists per game (2.8). Alli Ferguson (SR, Highland, IL/Highland) leads the Gorlok offense with 12 goals and two assists.
Webster allowed just 22 goals this year, with seven shutouts. The Maroon have only given up seven goals in 18 contests, recording 12 shutouts of their own, and are 9-0 on their home turf.
