After having its four-match win streak snapped in its previous outing, the Webster University men's tennis team got back in the win column with a 7-2 win over Illinois College on March 26 at the Webster Groves Tennis Center.

Taking a 2-1 lead  in doubles play, the Gorloks ran away with the match by winning five of six singles.  Ian Powers (FR, Farmington, MO/Farmington HS), Trent Purnell (SR, Marion, IL/Marion HS), Matt Lang (SR, St. Louis, MO/Lindbergh HS), and Charles McGee (FR, Waterloo, IL/Waterloo HS) all won in straight sets from #2 through #5. 

Eric Bateman (JR, Maryland Heights, MO/Pattonville HS) won his first singles match of the year at #6, winning in the tie-breaker.  McGee won his sixth straight singles match, improving to 6-1 on the season, while Purnell improved to 5-2 on the season with his victory.

Juan Granizo (JR, Quito, Ecuador/Colegio Alberto Einstein) lost his first singles match of the year, at #1, after starting at 6-0.  Granizo lost the first set, 6-7, falling in the tie-breaker, 6-8, before losing the second set, 4-6.

Webster is 5-2 overall on the season after the non-conference win over the Blueboys.  The Gorloks played an exhibition match vs Kaskaskia College (IL) later that afternoon.  The Blue Devils, a community college program, were 5-3 on the year.
 
The Gorloks host Concordia Seminary for an exhibition match on March 29 at the Webster Groves Tennis Center, then travel to Principia College (IL) for a SLIAC match-up on April 2.
