Panthers Down Gorloks In Men's Tennis

The Webster University men's tennis team had a rare home loss in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play with a 7-2 loss to Greenville College (IL) on April 5 at the Webster Groves Tennis Center.  The Gorloks fell to 1-3 in the SLIAC with the loss to a tough Panther squad.

Greenville overpowered Webster in doubles, taking a 3-0 advantage.  Juan Granizo (JR, Quito, Ecuador/Colegio Alberto Einstein) won handily in straight sets at #1 singles, and Charles McGee (FR, Waterloo, IL/Waterloo HS) won in a tie-breaker at #6, but unfortunately the Gorloks fell at #s 2-5 as Greenville ran away with the match.

Granizo improved to 7-2 in singles play on the season and McGee improved to 7-2 in singles play as well in his freshman campaign.

Webster is 1-3 in the SLIAC and 5-4 overall.  Greenville improves to 2-0 in the SLIAC and 10-3 overall.

The Gorloks host Oakland City University (IN) on April 8 at the Webster Groves Tennis Center, then travel to Kentucky on April 10 to take on Berea College.
