The Webster University men's tennis team won its first regulation match, and St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opener, with a 7-2 win at Fontbonne University, on March 31 in Clayton, MO. The Gorloks won two of three doubles, then sealed the match by winning five of six singles.
Trent Purnell (GR, Marion, IL/Marion) and Nico Andrade (FR, Quito, Ecuador/Francis Howell) had to go to tie-breakers to win at #2 and #4 singles, and Charles McGee (SO, Waterloo, IL/Waterloo) at #3, Eric Bateman (SR, Maryland Heights, MO/Pattonville) at #5, and Chris Morris (SR, St. Louis, MO/St. Mary's) at #6, all won in straight sets.

Webster is 1-0 in the SLIAC and 1-0 overall. The men are back in action on April 5 as they travel to Greenville College (IL). After a match vs. Central Christian College (KS) in Fulton, MO, on April 7, they will host Principia College (IL) on April 8 at the Webster Groves Tennis Center.
