The Webster University men's tennis team defeated Illinois College, 5-4, on April 14 in Jacksonville, IL.  The Gorloks had dropped a 5-4 match to the Blue Boys on April 11 at the Webster Groves Tennis Center, but turned the tables on them on their home court.

Webster was tied with Illinois College after singles play at 3-3.  Trent Purnell (GR, Marion, IL/Marion), Nicolas Andrade (FR, Quito, Ecuador/Francis Howell), and Eric Bateman (SR, Maryland Heights, MO/Pattonville) all won in straight sets.

After the Gorloks had split the first two doubles, with Bateman and Chris Morris (SR, St. Louis, MO/St. Mary's) winning at #3, it came down to the #2 result to decide the match. Charles McGee (SO, Waterloo, IL/Waterloo) and Ray Robson (SR, Clearwater, FL/Home School) won, 8-5, and Webster had the victory. 

Bateman is now 5-1 on the season in singles play with his win at #6.  Webster is 2-4 on the season and will host Fontbonne University on April 18 at the Webster Groves Tennis Center.
