Ridenhour, Badger to Compete at Saturday's Wartburg NCAA Last Chance Qualifier

WEBSTER GROVES - Webster University sophomore men's track sprinter Jacob Ridenhour (Jerseyville, Ill./Jerseyville) will look to earn a spot in this year's NCAA Division III National Indoor Track and Field Championships as he competes this Saturday at an NCAA Last Chance Qualifier hosted by Wartburg University in Waverly, Iowa.

Ridenhour, who is looking to become the second consecutive Gorlok to earn a spot in the NCAA D-III Indoor Championships as junior Caleb Clemons (Florissant, Mo./McCluer North) qualified in the 60-meter dash last season, will compete in both the 60-meter and 200-meter dashes this weekend.

In addition to Ridenhour, Gorlok senior Bailey Badger (Richland, Mo./Richland) will represent the Webster women in the weight throw as she looks to set a new school record in the event.

Entering Saturday's Last Chance Qualifier at Wartburg, Ridenhour is in a seven-way tie for 23rd in the 60-meter dash entering Saturday's meet as he is .04 seconds away from 15th on the list (6.89) and is 39th (21.99) in the 200-meter dash as he is .30 seconds away from 15th on the list (21.70). The top 15 competitors qualify for the D-III National Championships. The top 15 in each of those events earn a spot in this year's D-III Indoor National Championships.

Ridenhour's top 60-meter time of 6.93, which is a school record, was run at the Missouri Collegiate Challenge on Feb. 16, while his time of 21.99 in the 200-meter dash was run at last weekend's SLIAC Indoor Invitational hosted by Principia College. The time of 21.99 also set a new school record for Ridenhour.

Meanwhile, Badger is looking to set a new indoor school record this Saturday in the weight throw in her final collegiate indoor meet. Badger enters the meet sitting just two feet off the school record of 44-11 (13.4 meters) set by Lauren McClain at the Jim Green Invitational in 2015. Badger's best toss this season in the weight throw was 43-10.50 (13.37 meters) at the Missouri Collegiate Challenge.

The 2019 NCAA Division III National Indoor Track Championships is scheduled for March 8-9 in Boston, Mass.
