WEBSTER GROVES – After the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced earlier this week that the SLIAC Council of Presidents intended to pursue athletic competition this coming spring, the league unveiled its 10-game schedule for men's basketball beginning in late February on Thursday.
 
In August, the SLIAC Council of Presidents voted to postpone the regular season and championships for all of the league's fall sports and move them to the spring due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Along with pushing back the fall sports season to the spring, the league also postponed its winter sports competition to no sooner than January 1, 2021, in late September.
 
While the schedules for 2021 men's basketball season has been approved by the league, spring sports competition is still contingent upon the status of COVID-19 spread and access to appropriate testing, as well as, guidance from local, state and national public health officials.
 
Webster and the league's eight other women's basketball member schools are scheduled to play a 10 game conference schedule as the teams will play each team in the league once and will play two schools based on geographic proximity two times over a span of six weeks. The Gorloks will face Greenville and Spalding twice this spring in basketball. Each school in the league will play five home games and five road games.  
 
The 2020-21 women's basketball season is set to begin on February 24 and will conclude with the SLIAC Tournament finals on April 10. This year's SLIAC Tournament will feature all eight teams in the league and with all eight teams being included in the tournament, the league has added an additional consolation round for the team's losing their first round tournament matches.
 
Along with releasing the conference schedule, the league also said that the league's member schools have some room in the schedule to add additional non-conference schools to its schedule, if they choose to play any additional games this coming season.
