ELSAH, Ill. – Webster University took home a second place finish here Saturday at the inaugural 2020 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Jim Crafton Track Complex on the Principia College campus.
At this year's inaugural indoor championship meet, the Gorloks scored a total of 108 points to finish 110 points behind champion Greenville University, who scored 228 points.
In Saturday's meet, the Gorloks won four events, set two new school records and had six season best performances in 14 of the events they competed.
One of the biggest stars for the Gorloks on Saturday was junior All-American
Jacob Ridenhour (Jerseyville, Ill./Jerseyville) as he won three gold medals en route to taking home the SLIAC Track Athlete of the Year honor.
On the day, Ridenhour took home first place in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.91 and then set a school record in the 200-meter dash as he recorded a time of 22:26, which is 23rd nationally in Division III. Ridenhour's time bettered his old record of 22.33 set a last weekend's Missouri Collegiate Challenge. In the 200 meter dash, Ridenhour defeated the reigning outdoor national champion in the event, Principia's Corey Carter.
Ridenhour's third goal medal came in the 4-x-400 meter relay as he ran anchor on the Webster's first place team that recorded a time of 3:31.08. In addition to Ridenhour, the other members of the relay team included junior
Carson Gross (Arnold, Mo./Fox), junior
Joe Souvannarath (Imperial, Mo./St. John's Vianney) and freshman
Sam Baker (Memphis, Tenn./Saint Benedict at Auburndale).
The individual gold medalist was Souvannarath as he recorded a school time of 8.82 to place first in the event. The time bettered Souvannarath's old school record time of 8.91 at the Engineer Invitational.
In addition to Ridenhour, Gross turned in the fourth best time in school history (7.13) in the 60-meter dash also had the fourth best time (23.16) in the 200-meter dash.
Sophomore
Edward Tinnemeyer (St. Louis, Mo./Jakarta Intercultural) turned in two season best performances in both the long jump and the triple jump as he was third in the long jump with a leap of 21'2" and was also third in the triple jump with a mark of 42'4.25". In addition, he was second in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.88, which was second on the school's all-time list.
Junior
Nathan Freyling (Fenton, Mo./Fox) was third in the 3,000 meter run with a season best time of 9:24.88. In addition to Freyling, freshman
Cameron Sakuma (O'Fallon, Mo./Fort Zumwalt West) was fourth with a time of 9:40.82 and sophomore
Javier Cervantes (Garden City, Kan./Garden City) was fifth with a time of 9:45.02.

Corbin White (Pacific, Mo./Pacific) and freshman
Kaelin Triggs (St. Louis, Mo./Mehlville) placed second in the distance medley relay with a time of 11:38.65.
Ridenhour will run next weekend in the 200-meter dash at an undetermined Last Chance Meet in an attempt to qualify for the 2020 Indoor National Championships, which are scheduled for March 13-14 in Winston-Salem, N.C.
