SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Webster University golf team was back on the course over the last two days when they traveled to Springfield, Ohio, to compete in the Wittenberg Classic hosted by Wittenberg University at Springfield Country Club. The Gorloks took second place out of 10 teams in the event after shooting a 299 in the first round and a 292 in the second round for a total team score of 591 (+31). They finished 10 strokes behind Wittenberg University for first.
Will Hocker led the way for the Gorloks as he won his ninth career tournament after shooting a 71 in the first round and a 70 in the second round for a total score of 141 (+1) through 36 holes of golf. He edged out Ryan Miller by one stroke to solidify the win. Hocker played consistent golf through the whole tournament as he led the field of 54 golfers with 25 pars while adding five birdies.
Justin McCoy also played well in the tournament as he finished in fifth place after shooting a 73 in the first round and a 72 in the second round for a total score of 145 (+5). He finished with 21 pars and four birdies in the tournament. He also was one of just three players in the tournament to record an Eagle after he finished a 357 yard par 4 in two shots.
In addition to these competitors,
Cody Surma and
Mitchell Vetter finished in the top 20. Surma finished tied for 12
th after shooting a 78 in the first round and a 75 in the second round for a 153 (+13) overall. Vetter finished in a tie or 16
th after shooting back-to-back 77's for a 154 (+14) overall.

This marks the end of the fall season for the golf team. They will return to the course on February 26
th when they travel to Joelton, Tennessee, to compete in the Music City Classic at Nashville National Golf Course.
