ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Webster University men's golfer,
Will Hocker, will be competing in the Patriot All-America Invitational this week at Wigwam Golf Resort in Litchfield Park, Arizona. The three day tournament will take place from Wednesday, December 29
th to Friday, December 31
st.
The Patriot All-America Invitational, which features PING All-Americans from the previous season in NCAA Divisions I, II and III, as well as All-Americans from the NAIA, NJCAA and AJGA ranks, takes place annually. The event features 126 golfers that were nationally recognized last season.
One of the main features of the event is that each golfer honors a military hero. At the opening ceremonies, each golfer receives a custom PING golf bag that bears the name and branch of a fallen or wounded hero from their hometown or school. Following the event, the bags will be auctioned off with all proceeds going to the Folds of Honor Charity.
Hocker, who is the reigning NCAA Division III Men's Golf National Champion, will be honoring Staff Sergeant Jamie L. Huggins from Hume, Missouri. On October 26, 2003, while serving during Operation Iraqi Freedom, SSG Huggins was killed while on patrol when his vehicle was hit with an improvised explosive device in Baghdad. Following his death, SSG Huggins was awarded a Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
