Gorloks Place Seventh In Fall Finale At Jim Roope Invitational

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Webster University men's golf team closed out the 2025 fall season by competing in the Jim Roope Invitational hosted by Wittenberg University at Springfield Country Club. The Gorloks recorded an opening round score of 327 then cut 16 strokes on round two for a team score of 311. For the tournament, Webster earned a seventh place finish with a score of 638. WU's Erik Malmgren led the team with a four-over score of 147 with rounds of 76 and 72 that earned eighth overall. 

Malmgren opened the tournament one-over par through the first three holes that included back-to-back pars on holes two and three. Following an unlucky bogey on hole four, he got a stroke back with a birdie on the par-5 fifth hole. He continued the round with a bogey on hole six and closed out the front nine holes with three consecutive pars for the score of 38.

The native of Sweden opened back nine with a par on hole 10 then followed up with pars on holes 12 and 13. Moments later, he got a stroke back with a birdie on hole 14. He closed out the final four holes of the first round at two-over par alternating bogeys and pars for the score of 76. For the round, he recorded 10 pars, six bogeys, and two birdies

Malmgren led the team with an even-par 72 in the final round. He opened the second round even-par through the first four holes that included a bogey, a birdie on hole two, and consecutive pars on holes three and four. Moments later, he recorded birdies on holes five and seven. He closed out the front nine holes with consecutive pars on holes eight and nine for a one-under score of 35. 

Malmgren started the back nine with a bogey on hole 10 but followed up with a birdie on hole 11. He continued the round with six consecutive pars on holes 11 through 17. He closed out the tournament with a bogey on hole 18 for the score of 72. For the round, he carded 10 pars, four bogeys, and four birdies. For the tournament, Malmgren recorded 20 pars, 10 bogeys, and six birdies.

Thanaphat "Big" Amornjaturaporn had a solid tournament and finished second on the team with rounds of 78 and 84 for the score of 162. He opened the first round even-par through the first two holes that included a birdie on the par-5 second hole. Following a three hole stretch at five-over, he closed out the front nine with four straight pars on holes six through nine for the score of 41.

Big opened the back nine with a bogey on hole 10 but followed up with a par on hole 11 and a birdie on hole 12. Following an unlucky bogey, he carded back-to-back pars on holes 14 and 15. He closed out the final three holes at even-par that included a bogey on hole 16, a birdie on hole 17, and par on hole 18 for the score of 78. For the round, he carded eight pars, six bogeys, three birdies, and a triple-bogey

The Thailand native opened the second round three-over par through the first four holes that included a birdie on the par-3 third hole. He closed out the front nine holes alternating bogeys and pars for the score of 41. 

Big continued the final round with a par on hole 10 and followed up with a birdie on hole 11. Moments later, he carded back-to-back pars on holes 13 and 14. He closed out the final four holes at six-over par that included a par on hole 17 for the score 84. For the round, he carded seven pars, five double-bogeys, four bogeys, and two birdies. For the tournament, he recorded 15 pars, 10 bogeys, five birdies, five double-bogeys, and a triple-bogey. 

Sophomore Cole Makgill finished one spot behind Big with rounds of 84 and 79 for the score of 163. He opened the tournament with a par on hole one and then followed up with a birdie on the par-5 second hole. Following consecutive bogeys, he carded a par on hole five. He closed out the front nine with a par for a score of 41.  

The New Zealand native continued the round with a par on hole 10 and followed up with a birdie on hole 11. Following bogeys on holes 12 and 13, he recorded a par on hole 14. Moments later, he carded a par on hole 16 but finished with the score of 84. For the round, he carded six pars, six bogeys, four double-bogeys, and two birdies

Makgill opened the second round even-par through the first two holes that included a bogey on hole one and a birdie on hole two. Following consecutive bogeys on holes three and four, he got a stroke back with a birdie on the par-5 fifth hole. He closed out the final four holes on the front nine with four consecutive pars for the score of 37. 

Makgill continued the final round alternating pars and bogeys through the 14th hole. He closed out the final four holes of the tournament at four-over that included a par on hole 18 for the score of 79. For the round, he carded eight pars, seven bogeys, two birdies, and a double-bogey. For the tournament, he recorded 14 pars, 13 bogeys, five double-bogeys, and four birdies.  

Senior Oscar Petitjean competed in his first tournament of the season and finished tied 44th overall with rounds of 89 and 76 for the score of 165. He opened the first round with back-to-back pars on holes one and two then followed up consecutive bogeys on holes three and four. Moments later, he carded a par on hole five and later another par on hole eight. He closed out the front nine with a bogey on hole nine for the score of 42. 

The France native continued the round with two double bogeys on holes 10 and 11 and followed up with a par on hole 12. Shortly later, he carded pars on holes 14, 16, and 17. He closed out the round with a double-bogey on hole 18 for the score of 89. For the round, he carded eight pars, five double-bogeys, four bogeys, and one triple-bogey.

Petitjean had a 13-stroke improvement from round one with a four-over par score of 76 in the final round. He opened the second round even-par through the first three holes that included a bogey on hole one, a birdie on hole two, and a par on hole three. Following an unlucky bogey on hole four, he carded a birdie on the par-5 fifth hole. After carding a bogey hole six, he closed out the front nine with three pars on holes seven through nine for the score of 37. 

He started the back nine four-over par on holes 10 and 11 but followed up with five consecutive pars on holes 12 through 16. He closed out the tournament with a birdie on hole 17 and a par on hole 18 for the score of 76. For the round, he carded 10 pars, four bogeys, three birdies, and a triple-bogey. For the tournament, he recorded 18 pars, eight bogeys, five double-bogeys, three birdies, and two triple-bogeys.  
 
Adrien Cambourian made his season debut but only finished the first round. He opened the round with a bogey on hole one then recorded a par on hole two. Following a two-hole stretch at four-over par, he carded a par on five. He continued the front nine holes by adding two bogeys and a par for the score of 47. 

The first-year golfer from France continued the first round with bogeys on holes 10 and 11 then followed up with a par on hole 12. Moments after a two-hole stretch at three-over par, he got a stroke back with a birdie on hole 15. Shortly later, he carded a par on hole 17 and closed out the tournament with a bogey on hole 18 for the score of 89. For the round, he carded nine bogeys, five pars, one double-bogey, one triple-bogey, and an eight.
