Gorloks Moved Up Two Spots In Final Round; Earned 12th Place At Wabash College Fall Invitational

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Webster University men's golf team closed out tournament play at the 2025 Wabash College Fall Invitational with the final round on Tuesday. The Gorloks recorded a team score of 305 which was led by Nico Marin with a two-over par score of 74. With the combination of all three rounds (309, 304, and 305), Webster earned 12th place out of 18 teams.  

Marin opened his final round on hole 13 and recorded six straight pars through hole 18. Moments later, he followed up with a birdie on hole one. He closed out the final two holes of the first nine holes with back-to-back pars on holes two and three for the score of 36. 

Marin continued the round with four consecutive pars on holes three through six before carding a bogey on hole seven. Following a par on hole eight, he took an unfortunate double-bogey on hole nine. Moments later, he recorded a par on hole 10 and took a bogey on hole 11. He closed out the tournament with a birdie on hole 12 for the score of 74. For the round, he carded 13 pars, two bogeys, two birdies, and a double bogey. For the entire tournament, he recorded 33 pars, 13 bogeys, six birdies, and two double-bogeys. 

Junior golfer Jacob LeBlanc had his best round of the tournament with a three-over score of 75. He opened the round on hole 14 and was three-over through the first five holes with pars on holes 15 and 17. Following an unlucky double-bogey on hole one, he followed up with a par on hole two. He closed out the first holes with a bogey on hole three and a par on the fourth hole for the score of 42. 

LeBlanc continued his round with a birdie on hole five and followed up with three consecutive pars on holes six through eight. Moments later, he carded a birdie on hole nine and added back-to-back pars on holes 10 and 11. He closed out the round with a birdie on hole 12 and a par on hole 13 for the score of 75. For the round, 10 pars, four bogeys, three birdies, and a double-bogey. With the addition of all three rounds, he recorded 29 pars, 16 bogeys, six birdies, two double-bogeys, and a triple-bogey. 

Sophomore Cole Makgill and first-year Erik Malmgren recorded six-over par scores of 78 but started on different holes. Makgill started his final round on hole 12 and was two-over through hole 14 that included a birdie on hole 14. Following the birdie, he closed out the first nine holes with six consecutive pars for the score of 40. 

Makgill continued his round with a par on hole three and later added another par on hole five. Following a pair of bogeys, he carded a par on hole eight and a birdie on hole nine. He closed out the tournament with two bogeys for the score of 78. For the round, he recorded nine pars, six bogeys, two birdies, and one double-bogey. For the entire tournament, he recorded 26 pars, 18 bogeys, eight birdies, and two double-bogeys.

Malmgren started his final round on hole 13 and was two-over through two holes. Moments later, he carded back-to-back pars on holes 15 and 16 before taking a bogey on hole 17. Following a par on hole 18, he later added another par on hole two and finished the first nine holes with a bogey on three for the score of 42.

Malmgren continued his round with consecutive pars on holes four and five and later added consecutive pars on holes seven and eight. Following an unlucky bogey on hole nine, he recorded back-to-back pars on holes 10 and 11. He closed out the round with a birdie on hole 12 for the score of 78. For the round, he carded 10 pars, seven bogeys, and one bogey. For the tournament, he recorded 25 pars, 17 bogeys, seven birdies, two triple-bogeys, one bogey, and the lone eagle for the team. 

Sophomore Thanaphat "Big" Amornjaturaporn rounded out the team score with a nine-over par score of 81 for the final round. He opened the round on hole 14 and was two-over through hole 15. Moments later, he carded pars on holes 16 and 18 and followed up with a birdie on hole one. He closed out the first nine holes at four-over for the score of 43.

Big continued his final round with back-to-back pars on holes five and six and later added another par on hole eight. Following an unlucky bogey, he carded a par on hole 10. After taking an unfortunate bogey on hole 11, he closed out the tournament with consecutive pars on holes 13 and 14 for the score of 81. For the round, he carded eight pars, eight bogeys, a birdie, and a double-bogey. For the tournament, he recorded 22 pars, 17 bogeys, seven birdies, seven double-bogeys, and one triple-bogey. 

The Gorloks will compete in their final fall tournament of the schedule on October 20th at the Jim Roope Invitational hosted by Wittenberg University at Springfield CC in Springfield, Ohio.
