Track & Field Programs Recognized as USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams

Ridenhour, Schultz Named USTFCCCA All-Academic Athletes

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Webster men's and women's track and field programs were recently selected as U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III All-Academic Teams for the 2021 school year.
 
Webster's men's track and field team were one of 160 NCAA Division III programs to earn the distinction and one of two men's teams (Principia College being the other) from the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference to earn the accolade, while Webster's women's team was one of 213 Division III programs to earn the honor and one of three from the SLIAC selected as the Iowa Wesleyan University and Principia College women were also recognized.  
 
To be named an All-Academic Team the cumulative team GPA of all student-athletes who used a season of eligibility must be at least a 3.1 on a 4.0 scale through the end of the 2020-21 second semester. The men's program had a 3.13 GPA and the women's team had a 3.46 GPA.
 
Along with having both the men's and women's track teams earn a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team accolade, two Gorlok student-athletes was named 2020-21 USTFCCCA All-Academic Athletes. The two Gorloks honored were men's senior two-time All-American sprinter Jacob Ridenhour (Jerseyville, Ill./Jerseyville) and sophomore women's middle/distance runner Danielle Schultz (Swansea, Ill./Belleville East).
 
The USTFCCCA recognized more than 450 male student-athletes in NCAA Division III, while a total of more than 650 female student-athletes were selected in NCAA Division III. Overall, there were a total of 4,457 individuals selected as All-Academic Athletes in 2020-21 among NCAA Division I, III and III, NAIA and NJCAA schools.
 
To be named an All-Academic Athlete, the athlete must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and meet one of the following criteria.
  • Must have finished the indoor or outdoor season among the top 50 individuals as listed on the descending order lists on TFRRS. In addition, any athletes not among the top 50, but who participated at the Indoor or Outdoor National Championships, are eligible
  • Must have competed as a member of one of the top 35 relay teams as listed on the indoor or outdoor descending order list on TFRRS. In addition, any athletes not among the top 35 relay teams, but who participated in the relay at the Indoor or Outdoor National Championships, are eligible. Finally, any competing relay team member on an expanded descending order list to include 35 institutions (1 relay team per institution) is eligible.
Ridenhour and Schultz were two of four individual SLIAC student-athletes that were named USTFCCCA All-Academic Athletes as they were joined by Greenville's duo of Cayden Sharp (women) and Carson Rantanen (men).
